Our products are made based on simple individual plant attributes that when combined, create a whole solution. We hand pick most of our products in the boreal forests of Alberta Canada, with few other items purchased from local suppliers. Below are some of the known benefits of the plants we sustainably forage.
Alberta Wild Rose (Rosa acicularis)
Rose petals act as an astringent, helping to reduce skin inflammation, acne puffiness, and promote cellular regeneration. Petals and rose hips are high in vitamin c meaning they are highly immune-boosting.
Bearberry (Uva Ursi)
One of the most well-known diuretics due to its high content of arbutin. Bearberry is a great urinary antibiotic, often used to treat UTIs.
Black Spruce (Picea mariana)
Most of the picea sp. has similar attributes. The early new growth (spruce tips) on the tree has a sprucy, lemony flavor. They are helpful for relieving coughs, soothing sore throats, and clearing mucus from the sinuses and chest. They are high in vitamin C. Topically spruce compounds help alleviate joint and muscle aches.
Burdock (Arctium lappa)
Burdock root is commonly known for it anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants, and prebiotic fiber (inulin), which supports digestive health. The root soothes the kidney and lymphatic system. As a blood cleanser, it is topically used to treat acne, psoriasis and eczema.
Fireweed (Chamaenerion angustifolium)
Fireweed is a mild astringent often used to soothe digestive imbalances. It supports prostate and urinary health as well as be used to reduce inflammation as a poltice.
Goldenrod(Solidago virgaurea)
Internally used for indigestion and stomach aches. Externally, goldenrod can be applied topically to treat wounds, rashes, and acne. It’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects commonly help with insect bites, bruises and minor abrasions.
Pineapple Weed (Matricaria discoidea)
Matricaria family along with chamomile so it shares similar properties. It improves digestion and improves stomach aches, reduce stress, and promote sleep. Topically it is skin soothing as it will numb pain and reduce inflammation.
Raspberry (Rubus idaeus)
The uterus loves raspberries. Raspberry leaves help mensural flow and eases cramping. Raspberry leaves make for an easier pregnancy, delivery and recovery. Specifically, they help prevent tearing during childbirth. It’s excellent for clearing mucus from the body. The astringent tannins can help soothe mild digestive issues and reduce inflammation.
Red Clover (Trifolium pratense)
Primarily used as a blood cleanser. The phytoestrogens may boost collagen production, helping to improve skin elasticity. It has a slight cathartic effect. The isoflavones help mimic estrogen, decreasing hot flash severity. Not to be confused with white clover, though white clover does have it’s own health benefits including a high antioxidant content.
Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica)
Known as an alternative herb that assists with the elimination of toxins from the body as well as gently improving the functions of organs. Nettle has anti-inflammatory properties due to it’s high levels of quercetin. Nettle has restorative effects on overall health. Nettle leaf tea is a popular for opening up airways to help with colds and allergies.
Trembling Poplar/Aspen (Poplar tremuloides)
The buds are highly valued for their resinous, antioxidant-rich profile. Packed with salicin (nature's aspirin), flavonoids, and volatile oils, they are primarily used to relieve joint paint, soothe skin irritations and treat minor respiratory issues.
Wild Mint (Mentha arvensis)
Contains menthol, which relaxes the digestive tract. Acts as a mild decongestant, easing nasal congestion. Topically is used to relieve muscle pain.
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
Taken as a tea, Yarrow promotes sweating to reduce fever. It is a powerful bitter tonic to easy bloating. As a salve, it equalizes circulation, mildly antibiotic against bacteria, stops bleeding directly on wounds.
